Itinerary
Day 1: Morning or evening arrival
Upon your arrival in Athens be welcomed by your English-Speaking driver and depart to your hotel for check-in. Overnight in Athens.
Day 2: City Tour of Athens & The Acropolis
After breakfast, meet with your English-speaking guide at the hotel lobby and depart for your organized Athens city tour including the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum. You will see the Constitution Square (Syntagma Square), the House of Parliament, the Evzones in their picturesque uniform guarding the Memorial to the Unknown Soldier. See the Athens Academy, the University and the National Library. Have a short photo stop at the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games that took place in 1896. The stadium is impressive both for its history and for its U- shape, which seats more than 70,000 spectators on a surface completely covered in white marble from Penteli, the same used to build the Parthenon. Continue towards the Acropolis, passing by Hadrian’s Arch and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. On top of a rocky hill, overlooking the city of Athens you will visit the monuments of the Acropolis: the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally, the Parthenon. You will also see the Herodion theatre (no entry) and the theatre of Dionysos. Your last stop will be the Acropolis Museum where the friezes and statues from the Acropolis have finally found their permanent home. The tour finished at tour hotel. Overnight in Athens.
Day 3: Travel to Santorini, the Romantic Island
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at set time and transferred with your English-Speaking driver to Piraeus port, to take a speed-ferry to Santorini island. 07:25 – 14:55 Departing port of Piraeus to Santorini island Upon arrival, meet with your English-Speaking assistant and driver and transfer to your hotel for check in. Free afternoon in Santorini. Enjoy a complimentary glass of Santorini wine in a café/ bar /restaurant, while admiring the view of the Caldera and the world-known Santorini sunset. Overnight in Santorini.
Day 4: Volcano Cruise
Full day tour with sunset in Oia. The excursion starts from the picturesque old port of Santorini. This port is only accessible by cable car which is the most common way as it takes only 3 minutes to go down, 587 steps on foot or for those who love the adventure, the local donkeys is the ideal choice to reach it. There the guide of your excursion will be waiting for you, to give you all the important information and to orientate you on the boat. Our first destination will be the famous volcano of Santorini! After 20 minutes sailing, we will reach Nea Kameni’s jetty. Should you are interested to be guided at the volcano. Then, you will walk to the volcano’s ridge with your guide and he is going to explain you everything about the history and the geology of the volcano. You will stay at the volcanic island for 1.5hr and in the end you will embark again to our boat for the next stop. Our next stop will be the island of Palea Kameni where the famous hot springs are located on the west side. A place that is really popular for its thermal waters. We will stop there for 30min at a distance of 30 meters from the shallow waters of Agios Nicholaos’ beach. The waters are mixed with mud that they are full of sulfur, iron and other metals coming from the volcano and they are very good for the skin, rheumatism, arthritis and other physical pains. Important Note : In order to reach Agios Nicholaos’ beach is essential to swim extremely well. Next stop is the island of Thirassia. Thirassia is a miniature of what Santorini used to be several years ago. Today is a virgin island, still untouched by tourism and modern life style. The island of Thirassia is only 9 sq. km in size and has approximately 300 permanent inhabitants. We will stay there for 2 hours, so as to explore this picturesque and traditional village as well as to taste the authentic Santorinian cuisine. Should you wish, you can also walk at the main village of Manolas, which is the capital of Thirassia. The view over Santorini is spectacular from there. After departing from your last destination, the boat tour will be finished at Athinios, the main port of Fira. After your disembarkation, a bus will be waiting for you in order to transfer you to Oia village. There you will have free time to eplore this majestic village and admire the unique sunset. Your bus will be waiting for you again at a specific pick up, that will drive you back to your drop off location. Overnight in Santorini.
Day 5: Travel to Athens
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at a set time and will be transferred with your English-speaking driver to Santorini port for your ferry to Piraeus port, Athens. 15:30 – 23:25 Departing port of Santorini island Upon arrival at Piraeus port, you will be picked up by your English-speaking driver and transferred to your hotel for check-in. Overnight in Athens
Day 6: Athens, departure
After breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at set time by your English-speaking driver and transferred to Santorini Airport for your flight to Athens Airport. Connect with your flight back home.
